Using google drive (within Chrome browser), and I cannot find an easy way of doing the equivalent of right clicking on a folder to get the properties of a folder including the number of files, total size of the folder etc). In fact, I cannot easily find a way of doing the same on the root folder of the google drive to see how much space is being consumed and the number of files.I know there is a file size column but thats not what I am looking for. I need more info like number of files in a folder too.ALSO, when a folder loads, it doesnt load the whole damn folder, I need to scroll to the bottom and wait until more files load. What genius at google thought this idea up to slow down the whole experience of seeing or even ordering files quickly? What I missing here for such a basic basic command? This might help a little, I believe it's the only thing you can do at the moment.Do you have folders already made or would you like to find out what's in your folders already?
I'm not sure how long Google Drive saves file activities, but.if you click on a folder you want (to find how many files are in there). After you click on it.go to top right of screen where there is an i in a circle. Once the right screen shows up, click on Activity tab next to details.
This will show you just how many files are in that particular folder. As far as a quick way to see how much space a particular file is using, use the same strategy as above, but just click on the file you want to see usage. Then make sure the 'details' tab is clicked instead of activity. It will show you how large the file is, where it's located, etc.Hope this helps some, let me know if my wording is awkward! Google Drive is not a file system like you may think of your file system on your local computer.
The only real way to get what you want is to sync down to your computer and use your OS to get that info. The same goes for scrolling for your hundreds of files, it is not meant for that. Instead, use the search function to filter/narrow down what you are looking for. Again, if you want it to act like your OS file system, then use google sync to download and view the folders and files locally. What you will notice is your OS is great for right clicking and getting properties, scrolling through long lists of files and sorting by clicking on the title. It's not very fast for searching and filtering files. That is where Google Drive excels. On Google Drive you can see your total usage on the left side menu where it shows X gigs of X available.
Whilst I agree with @pinoyyid's answer, I do disagree with their reasoning.Just because the file structure is effectively flat doesn't mean that you can't derive a folder size.A lovely example of something that does this is this app -N.B: Due to the way Google Drive is designed, a file/folder can be in multiple locations, which feels more like symlink. As such, you may get an inaccurate size for a folder and therefore an unrepresentative total size of the drive if the file/folder sizes were all added up separately. @user26631 This is what I am actually doing: I paginate over the folder and to a recursive function checking if it is a file or folder. For every item, I store the ID and space used in LocalStorage so I don't have to do a lot of service calls. Like a cache.
How To Check The File Size In Google Drive
Then if it is a file, I query the Google API and store the 'Quota Used' property. If it is a folder, I call the function again. It usually takes some time to analyse because I can only query up to 10 items at a time in the API. I am using Quota Used because that is actually the space is using in your quota and not all files do so.–Dec 4 '16 at 15:46.
I'm not sure why the mod disallowed me from answering this question as I have the required rep, but I'll provide a comment: It's not an exact answer as it's not folder sizes, but will help you find large files. If you hover over the quota in the lower left of the screen on the web app, it will show your quota and a small blue 'i' icon.

Click that and it will reverse sort all your files by largest to smallest. Hope this helps somewhat, and it's annoying that Google doesn't provide a real folder size.–Sep 29 '15 at 14:58. @user56353 PCs will sometimes report the disk space used.
Disk space is allocated in whole blocks, like 4k in size, and if a file is only 1k, it still uses 4k on disk. Thousands of small files could use up lots of wasted space. Google Drive might report only actual file size.

Also Google Drive may compress photos & videos, or de-duplicate files between users if they are the same file. Check actual file size vs. Size on disk.
Google Drive How To See Folder Size In Dropbox
Windows 8.1 reports both in File Properties ( ALT+ENTER).–Sep 29 '17 at 17:20. Since there are no (currently working) answers here, I will post an answer that is slighly inconvenient, but at least it works, as long as the folder is less than 15 GB (the free storage amount offered by Google Drive).Create a new Google account, (this is not a very long process, thankfully) and share the folder with that account. Zenmate vpn premium crack pc. On the new account, copy the shared folder so that it is also on that account. Your new Google account will tell you how much storage you have used.
That is the size of the folder. After getting that information, you can delete the whole folder. This whole proccess can be done in a few minutes.
